Serré sets new world record

Lou Serré, of Markstay, Ontario, set a new world record this past weekend at Daaquam, Quebec. With a field
of 57 6-dog mushers, the competition was bound to get hot.
Serré ran the second day six mile 6-dog class in a time of 17:03.65. The previous world record was held by
Kourosh Partow of Willow, AK at the 2006 Limited North American Championships with a time of 17:08.2 in
Fairbanks, Alaska. Serré's time on the first day of racing was 17:51.95, giving him a total time of 34:55.60.
Second place was Martin Dagenais of St. Sauveur, Quebec with a total time of 35:04.77.
Serré also won the 1/4 mile sprint in a time of 41.17 seconds on day 1 and 36.80 seconds on the second
day.
David Genois, of St. Raymond, Quebec, won the 12-mile Open Pro Tour race with a two day time of
1:18:24.56 edging out Marcel Levesque by a mere 5 seconds.
Daaquam is a major race on the sprint racing circuit and had a total purse of $20,000.
